ulyana sergeenko lookbook

how charming and glamourous is ulyana sergeenko's fall/winter 2011-12 lookbook? the entire collection is a reminiscent of the 1940s with all the bright red lips and immaculate hairdos. and the warm autumn color palette? just so beautiful. as if it's not already blatantly obvious... i'm completely obsessed. i have nothing but praise for this debut designer. although, sergeenko is not new to the fashion world. she happens to be a well established photographer and the editor for glamour russia.

short hiatus

after a ten month deployment overseas, my husband finally came home! the big homecoming event was so emotional - lots of crying and kissing on my part. he was even lucky enough to be on the front page of the local paper with momma rethage! he's been gone so long that i almost forgot how amazing and loving he is. it's so good to have my other half with me!

needless to say, i've had my hands full with all the snuggling with john and clubbing with my wonderfully eccentric in-laws. not only that, but i'm also waiting for my new macbook pro to arrive in the mail. in the meantime, here's a beautiful cover of gotye's somebody that i used to know by walk off the earth. be sure to check out the original. the video is amazing and my best friend robert is obsessed with it.

alison scarpulla photography

i recently discovered alison scarpulla via clothesencounters and i gotta admit i'm a little obsessed already. i love the desaturated colors and grainy quality that all her photographs possess. it gives off a very eerie and unsettling feeling. yet still beautiful. on a side note, doesn't the photo pictured above seem very florence welch-esque?

hare + klein interior design

check out this amazing residential property designed by the austrialian company hare + klein interior design. i love how the space pulls off being industrial, yet homey and welcoming. and... come on! just look at that kitchen! let's not forget those beautiful lamp fixtures.

i could imagine my husband drinking a beer and baking some homemade italian food while robert pours a glass of wine for the both of us. oh, gosh. now i want to move in. i'm sure john would approve! if only, right?

for more pictures and info on their carriagehouse project, check out this site.

easy feminine charm

how dreamy is amelia nd andreas longren wildell's home (which they photographed themselves)? i love the muted feminine color pallet, white walls, and aged wood accents. it just gives off such an air of easy elegance. do i even need to mention how beautiful that worn down leather couch is? no. of course not.
for more pictures into their beautiful home, check out amelia's blog a beautiful living.
even their dishes and decorative glass collection are beautiful!

christmas: 'tis the season

tis the season, y'all! christmas is right around the corner, and this is the first year that i've actually planned ahead and gotten all of my shopping done! the only thing left to do is wrap the mountain of presents and bake up a storm!

my husband is amazing, but really lazy when it comes to buying gifts for anniversaries and holidays. he usually just ends up just telling me to buy whatever i want. lazy, right? but i always end up getting exactly what i wanted, so i guess it works out pretty well.

this year, i ended up buying seven things in total for both my birthday and christmas. while all of the items are amazing (especially since i bought everything with discounts/sales), the best has to be the woven bamboo walnut floors. yes, you heard me. john let me buy new wood floors for our entire house. not only did we get an amazing military discount from home depot, but my best friend robert is installing it for free! he's already finished the living room, and... let me tell you, it is freaking beautiful.

i'm so happy that we don't have carpet anymore! we have five animals (two dogs & three cats), so the carpet retained a lot of the smell - especially because the little dog has a bladder problem and tends to potty inside. my allergies would act up all the time, and i'd get pretty sick because of the smell. but now the carpet has been ripped up and taken away by the wonderful trash collectors. bye bye, allergies!

thankfully robert was kind enough to also take pictures, so you'll be able to see the before and after looks!

off topic... but check out these videos "shit girls say." it'll make you giggle.
