style icons: young hollywood
hailee steinfeld rose to fame for her portrayal of mattie ross in the 2010 film true grit. at the just 14, hailee has been nominated for an academy award for best support actress and a BAFTA award for best actress in a leading role. although she is relatively new to the hollywood scene, hailee would otherwise appear to be a seasoned veteran on the red carpet. out of the three stars mentioned, hailee has the most mature and demure taste in clothing... at least on the red carpet.
be sure to check her out in carlo carlei's 2012 revamp of the classic tale of romeo and juliet and as the new face of miu miu.
while many might accredit elle fanning's (yes, dakota fanning's younger sister) recent fame to j.j. abram's 2011 film super 8, she's been around for quite some time. i'll always remember her as the voice of mei in the english cast for hayao miyazaki's my neighbor totoro, which, to this day, remains one of miyazaki's best works. at the mere age of 13, elle has some 20 films under her belt and has even won film actress of the year at the young hollywood awards for her portrayal of cleo in sofia coppola's 2010 film somewhere.
just look at her face! the younger fanning is the absolute embodiment of all things angelic. in a sea of exposed skin, elle fanning's ensembles remain soft and girly - very age appropriate. did i mention that she wore my favorite white, bejeweled neckline marchesca dress? in one word - darling.
she was even featured in rodarte's the curve of forgotten things film, in which she showcased their latest designs. check it out! it's a really beautiful video.
thanks to her portrayal as the controversial, sharp-tongued heroine hit-girl in the 2010 film kick-ass, chloe moretz has already become a household name. she's also my favorite young actress at the moment. can you believe that she's only 14?! she played the eerie abby in the remake of one of my favorite films låt den rätte komma in. chloe consistently chooses good roles, although slightly repetitive - always the snarky, smart-mouth girl. while i'm not complaining, i do hope that she branches out and exercises her abilities to the most.
chloe's style on and off the carpet are very consistent with one another. she definitely has the most fun with her clothes out of the three actresses mentioned. she obviously has no qualms with experimenting with color or prints, which i love - it makes her seem more youthful and edgy. however, she does knows how to appear polished and sophisticated as you can see with her calvin klein shift.
